Do Any Atheists Feel This Way?
by Big Dog inthe atheists have done a pretty good job on me, i am just about to cast my lot in with them after all the reading and debating on the issue.
they just seem to have all the answers and appear to hold the intellectual high ground, they do a good job of making one feel like a complete idiot for believing in a god, much less the christian version.
so now that i am almost free of this delusional, magical thinking, religious burden of foolishly believing in a god and that there is anymore to life than what is right here how do i feel?

Big Dog, I’m sorry. Don’t take my remarks in the wrong manner. I had no idea that you were dealing with this loss.
My father too is plagued with a deteriorating physical vessel. He as an advanced abdominal aortic aneurism. He also has severe heart damage and artery blockage from years of smoking and self neglect. As a result surgical options are limited. Combine that with the fact that my mom is a blood phobic JW and you can begin to understand my situation. I’ve been dealing with the fact that I don’t have much time with him for a little while now and I’m trying to enjoy every single moment. We’ve been spending much more time with one another and communicating more than we ever have in the past. My biggest fear is that he’ll go when I’m not around, that I’ll get a phone call from my mother telling me that he’s gone and I will have missed my last opportunity to say goodbye.
All of your feelings and emotions are all to familiar and I appreciate you sharing your experience. Thank you.

I sent an online birthday card to my non JW sister yesterday...
by TresHappy inthe funny thing is that my jw mom saw it and laughed at it and said it was funny.
her birthday happened to be the day before, and when i called her she said to me "aren't you going to wish me a happy birthday?
"

Perhaps you should have sent your mother a card as well? Maybe she'd be more receptive than you think.

I don't know if there is anything wrong with Simon's posts as I have not read them. I do consider myself a patriotic American though. Also, I am certainly not for the war in Iraq. I voted against Bush in both elections (and I'm not a partizan voter). This whole "war on terror" is bullshit. It's a blank check for the government to spend, spend, spend....all in the name of a war that will never end and can never be won. I was merely commenting on a previous poster that is registerd as a newbie but has a firm handle on where to find previous posts, which is an accomplishment in itself considering there some 4700+ pages of topics in this forum.
If you were talking to me that is.....?

When I was very young at a meeting, before I ever really understood the doctrine, they were discussing giving gifts. My mother decided to give a comment and in the middle of her comment I took the microphone hostage and yelled "happy birthday" into it. LOL
Same situation, different topic of conversation. The dubs were preaching about Jehovah's divine nature and the super powers that he has. This time I yelled "Super Man".
I would have to say that my mother was pretty embarrased.

I was reading a post today about the kingdom songs we sang as JW's.
by booker-t ini was thinking about the kingdom songs we sang as jw's and was wondering about you posters out there that are ex-jw's or still jw's what was you all time favorite "kingdom song" or what was you all time horrible song that we sang from both songbooks (1966 songbook or the later songbook made in 1984 sing praises to jehovah.
my favorite song was song #119 in the 1966 songbook "keep your eyes on the prize".
i like this song because it made me feel that armaggeddon was coming fast and the "new system" would be here to give me the prize.

Well you cant judge a book by its cover you know. Besides I've just recently changed my avatar, but I dont think the old one would have given you any different of an impression.

Well when I left the Borg I grew my hair past shoulder length. Then I had to get a real job and cut it off (I do miss it). Now my wife throws a temper tantrum every time I shave my goatee or beard. Since JW's arent allowed to have facial hair I would have to say no, I dont look like a Dub.
